I’ve always been drawn to birds, magpies and wrens especially. I am in awe of their delicate biology, their unique personalities and their bravery in a world that is so much larger and more powerful than them. In these paintings I’ve tried to display the attributes I admire most about both species while also including a human element. 

The position of the bird on the hand ‘Delicate’ is there to give the viewer a sense of how light and delicate the Fairy Wren is and yet the wren also exudes a feeling of strength, it carries the work.
