Coiling is my meditation. The simplicity, the predictability, the repetition, is where I retreat to when my mind needs calm. I love that my fibre work can take stress and worry, and transform them into something that brings a smile to my face. As I coil, I recalibrate my world, my feelings and my capacity to cope with the challenges thrown my way. 

Recalibrate I and Recalibrate II are the product of recent tumultuous times. They are the first two pieces in a body of work that utilises soft plastic waste as the core material. By using discarded bread bags as the core, I satisfy my desire to reuse materials and minimise waste. We recalibrate our perceptions around waste when we incorporate items typically thought of as rubbish into a new context. This is a concept I look forward to exploring further in my work.
