I am an artist originally from Orange and use the creative process as a type of self-care tool. Clay is a very grounding and hypnotic element that really engages the senses which I find very therapeutic. I like working with subtle tones that reflect the natural environment. I use a combination of hand building as well as wheel thrown techniques and enjoy making pieces which are authentic and allow space for imperfection and personal expressiveness. While my works thus far are mostly utilitarian in nature, the ceramic process has allowed a reflective space for me to contemplate notions of flow states and mindfulness.
Volunteering in a women’s drug and alcohol rehabilitation program and engaging women in the creative process has allowed me to bring my passion for creativity and it’s therapeutic effect to others.
