A little bit more | Blue Flax Lilies Dianella caerulea are early summer flowering and in turn attract the Reed Bee Exoneura robusta. Reed bees differ from other breeds because they are not born into a fixed role but can change their behaviour in the colony to suit environmental conditions. Dense growing leaves provide a protected habitat for the brilliantly coloured Jewel Bugs Scutiphora pedicellate to feed. Injecting saliva into the plant turns the plant matter into liquid for the bugs to drink.
