Christine Appleby | Myrtaceae series
Christine Appleby | Myrtaceae series
Title: Myrtaceae series VI, VII, VIII and IX (6 - 9)
Materials: Hand-woven, cotton, silk, copper & stainless-steel, wire, wool, mohair (no boards as now standalone*)
Year: 2019
Size: 25 x 18 x 5 cm (note each one is slightly variable due to the hand woven process) | IX (9) is 20 x 30 x 5 cm (portrait)
*Display: You can pin these into plasterboard using fine dressmaker pins. The artwork has the capacity for a pin to be carefully pushed through the woven fibre.
A little bit more from the artist: I am captivated by the inventive process and infinite possibilities of weaving. I focus on ideas of inconsistency, imperfection and irregularity, capturing the ephemeral qualities of the natural world.
All artworks come with a printed Artist Statement and Biography
Photos: First two images (orange background) Anne Masters; 2nd two images Madeline Young.
