We are pleased to introduce Jo Sabey from the Gippsland region in coastal Victoria. In early May, I had the chance to visit Jo and see her gorgeous studio covered in ornamental leaves that glowed with gold and ruby red. She took me on a tour of her studio showing me books she made filled with her poems and large colourful paintings resting and waiting for their forever home. Jo has spent considered time during the pandemic creating a special series called Little Dress Ups. Jo tells us a little bit more:
“ … I began to save scraps — offcuts and palettes that told the colour story of each evolving painting from that time onward — becoming precious to me in a way I couldn’t explain. Recently during the long days of retreat of ’20/’22 and holding thoughts of ‘making do’ I found myself rediscovering and looking through my strange treasured collection and I knew that its moment in time had come … “.
