Artist Statement
I visited a friend's farm on the New South Wales south coast shortly after they had been devastated by the New Year's Eve fires which then was followed shortly afterwards by massive flooding. They invited me to document the impact of these events and I found myself both drawn to the physical drama of the way the fires had blasted their small piece of paradise as well as the contradiction of the bursting greens from the rains that had arrived before I did. In this exhibition, Ian has selected three of 20 views of how 2020 started for his friend.
