Pia Larsen

Pia Larsen is an artist based in Sydney who works with printmedia, paper photography, text and metal. Her practice encompasses images, sculpture and installation environments and draws from an interest in people, place and language in projects that engage with culture, history and geo-politics. 

We have a small selection of Pia’s work resulting from a residency in New York where she learned about paper pulp mix and colour. The residency provided her ‘ … with an opportunity to explore working with domestic objects to reflect how people act within communities and the larger world around them … “.

Pia Larsen has exhibited widely over the past twenty years in solo / group shows, commercial galleries and ARI’s and was represented by the Damien Minton Gallery from 2008 – 2012. Her work has been acquired by Sydney City Council, Art Bank, Print Council of Australia, State Library Collection Victoria, Artspace Mackay, Canson Australia (Corporate Collection), Grafton Regional Gallery, UWS Macarthur and the WSW New York.

Pia recently was selected for the Megalo Relief Exhibition showcasing relief printmaking internationally. She exhibited again at Future, Sydney Contemporary 2019 as an Invited artist with O House Studios and with Unlimited Sydney at Sydney Contemporary 2018 in Paper Contemporary. Pia was also selected in that same year to create new work for the show From small things, big things grow for the Gallery of small things and Megalo Print Studio + Gallery in the ACT. Pia has recently been shortlisted for the Burnie Print Prize 2021 and we wish her all the best!
