Jodie Cunningham
When I was a little girl, I would lie on my stomach in my bedroom, drawing and making things. I would lose myself in colour and pattern for hours on end and did it so frequently, I wore a hole in our carpet! This activity was intuitive, playful and mindful and became a lifelong habit resulting in my colourful career as a visual artist, designer, arts educator and leader.
Jodie Cunningham has an obsession with colour, pattern and the emotional resonance of objects. She has more than 25 years experience as a professional, practicing artist and regularly features in group and solo exhibitions. Her most recent, major exhibitions include two public art installations: Canberra Futures projections for Enlighten in 2020; Canberra Journeys for Woolley Street, Dickson in 2019; and a solo exhibition Bloom at M16 Artspace in 2018. In late July 2021, Jodie commenced her new role as CEO & Artistic Director at Craft ACT: Craft and Design Centre located in Canberra, Australia. She delights in making the world more colourful, parenting her gorgeous children, managing her menagerie of pets as well as creating engaging art, museum and learning experiences. She also happens to live in a bright, pink house!
