At GOST, we are excited to announce our 6th annual show. This year I’m fortunate to have 8 new artists accept an invitation to exhibit new works, participate in a themed show and work in pairs.

The artists come from Sydney, Melbourne, rural NSW and coastal Queensland. It’s the first time they have shown at GOST.

GOST has grown from 11 artists to nearly 50 in it’s stable. I kept meeting all these lovely artists but ironically, not enough space to show their works. The gallery is less than 6 meters square! This invitation to be in our annual group show was a perfect solution to introducing them to Canberra audiences.

The artists include two ceramicists, two painters, two photographers, an object maker and mixed media / drawing painter. Each artist has responded to the theme connection whether it be through their childhood - tea sets and conversations or objects that fill our home with joy, a favourite destination where the landscape provides a ‘window of colour and texture’, work related (flight attendant and aerial viewpoints from a galley window), travelling by car / plane in Australia and overseas to reunite with loved ones or ‘veiled images that convey a soft and mystical quality’ through use of materials.

This is just a little insight into the thinking, planning, and creating each artist puts into making their artworks. I’m confident they will resonate and connect with visitors in their own special way.

The catalogue is now live! Enjoy and we look forward to seeing you soon, best Anne
