Reconciliation Week

Thanks to Kathy Seton from Meta Design for making me this fabulous skirt. Kathy explained,  "the fabric is designed by Ada Nangala Dixon and tells the story of two rainmakers who unleash a giant storm that travels across country and fills the usually dry creek beds of the Puyurri dreaming site (which I think is in the Pilbara area)".

GOST acknowledges Reconciliation Week, 27 May - 3 June, but also recognises the need every day to " ... learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia ... " as explained by Reconciliation Australia.

Shellharbour | Travel story + Business Basics for Visual Artists workshop

While I didn’t see it at the time as it was getting dark there is an Aboriginal play space, Yirran muru located in the native gardens behind the Shellharbour Civic Centre.

In early May, I headed to the quaint seaside town of Shellharbour, NSW. I’ve never been there before but if you are looking for a peaceful short stay I highly recommend visiting this part of Australia.

Shellharbour City Council with South Coast Arts and Kiama Municipal Council engaged me to host a day workshop aimed at smartening up three key documents artists should have. An arts CV (which changes according to what it will be used for i.e - a gallery or a grant; an artist statement which also changes whether its an overarching one explaining the general theme of works made OR focused on a set of works made for a specific outcome - an exhibition or an award. The Bio is about the artist and in a nutshell sums up their key achievements in a timeline.

I enjoyed meeting artists from the coastal arts region and post workshop providing them with individual feedback ensuring a relationship continues long after teaching/coaching.
