8 | Connections
Our annual group exhibition opens to the public
Friday 27 September at 11am.
Who are they?
Hamish Bassett + Eloise Rankine
Jan Brown + Linda Chant
Claire Grant + Frances Mocnik
Jane Guthleben + Penny Verdich
Earlier this year, I invited 8 artists to respond to a theme about connections. I've been wanting to include them in my stable but with 49 artist on the books I found this difficult to enact. I felt compelled to show their artworks as I've met each artist over a period of 8 years and maintained valued friendships and a respect of their making and professional arts practice.
I wrote a list and they naturally paired:
2 ceramicists, 2 painters, 2 photo media and 2 mixed media/objects. We met on a regular basis and gradually built an exhibition together that had a deeper intellect response as well as connecting with like minded peers. Friendships formed and an exchange of ideas, skills and knowledge has resulted in what I feel makes this show a very special one to experience. An exhibition page will be coming soon.
27 September to 13 October 2024
Catalogue goes live 11am, Friday 27 September here.

Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize
I've been going to the Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize as long as the National Archives of Australia has been hosting this Adelaide based prize and exhibition from the South Australian Museum. This time it was part of my weekly Wednesdays with my parents and sister. We all agreed our favourite works by glass artist Jessica Murtagh. I think my dad would have bought one if they sold individually but he appreciated them as a set. We all enjoyed the exhibition and even better was the number of red dots "sales" which is a much needed boost for artists in the visual arts sector.
A special mention to Robyn Booth who was the recipient of the GOST professional development award in the 2020 Canberra Potters Members annual exhibition. In this Waterhouse prize, she was awarded Highly Commended for her work Hidden Treasure Longhorn Beetle Trails.
