Hope | Last exhibition for 2022 @ GOST
We are thrilled to welcome Vanessa Ion, Christina Mclean,
Kanun Onsel and Melinda Young as part of the creative exchange between
GOST and Sydney's Australian Design Centre (ADC).
I’ve been working with them the past few months and it was lovely
to meet online to get to know each other, talk about work in progress and
imagine artworks to suit the theme ‘Hope’ in our little space.
The works on show will include wall art and vessels by Kanun, ceramic pods by Christina,
hand crocheted creatures by Vanessa and wood jewellery and woven vessels by Melinda.
The GOST exhibition will open to the public Friday 7 October at 11am and runs till 4pm, Sunday 23 October
Hope | Object Space @ ADC
We are also pleased to be sending some GOST artists
to be showcased in the Object space at ADC in Sydney.
Christine Appleby, Ellen Rosalie Gunner, Lee Leibrandt, Al Munro
and Lan Nguyen-hoan have worked together to imagine their works in a small space.
It’s even smaller than GOST!
Works on show include a sculptural textile work by Christine, framed paintings by Ellen,
tapestry works by Lee, geometric painting by Al and miniature monolith-like forms by Lan.
The ADC exhibition opens to the public Friday 7 October till Sunday 30 October.
COMING SOON!
Returning Artist | Grace Brown of Ohheygrace
We are thrilled Ceramicist Grace Brown is joining GOST’s stable. She is our Returning Artist after a successful sell out show HOME held at GOST earlier this year. That means we now have 47 artists! Wow! I’ll need a lie down I think come 31 December ;) Anyway, Grace has been busy making her mini worlds which in her words “ … so cute, so small, very obsessed … “ and so are we! One of her new miniature labyrinth sculptures with it’s base also reminds her of a “metropolis maze”.
Supporting ArtSound's music award
In late September, Adam and I had the pleasure of donating funds towards ArtSound FM's ACT Young Virtuoso Awards. We were pleased to hear Ronan Apcar won the Award.
ArtSound's organiser Julie Finch-scally said, "Ronan played a brilliant couple of pieces: ‘Siegfried’s Funeral March’ by Richard Wagner as arranged by Ferruccio Busoni and ‘The Fire Sermon’ by Finnish Composer Einojuhani Rautavaaras, a modern piece but amazing to hear played".
Ronan has won an hour’s recording time in the ArtSound Recording Studios, $750 cash prize donated by Belconnen Rotary Club and Return flights and Accommodation by Phillip Bralins of Riga Medical and Adam and myself. He is due to fly out Sunday 20 November to attend the National Finals in Melbourne. We all wish Ronan the best!
