All creatures great + small | Australian bushfires
We are donating 20% from all sales made in January
Recently, we had evacuee's arrive late one night as a result of a small opening to pack their bags and get out of the South Coast bushfires. All we knew was they were carers, bringing their small orphan wildlife and may stay the night. I had visions of kangaroos, koalas, bats and so on! As it was, our guests had two of each: baby wombats, baby geckos, lizards and their Siamese cats. I was very lucky to hand feed the wombats. We also had Raffy from our dear friend and GOST artist Sarah who chose to stay with family to defend their property and ceramic studio. For most artists losing your home and studio is a double whammy as a loss of income impacts your livelihood as well as facing months to rebuild and restock all that you lose. Thankfully, so far ... Sarah is safe and we can only hope that cooler conditions, rain, visitors and the spirit of human kind will keep the Sapphire Coast (and Australia) humming. Workshops in 2020
Due to the success of running the first series of Business Basics for Visual Artist workshops in Canberra and Orange, they will be running again in 2020! I am also adding a new workshop: Workshop 7 | Writing Artist Statements and Biographies which will run 25 March. So, help spread the word as these workshops are designed especially for visual artists to gain professional skills, tips and insider knowledge of the arts scene. Plans for Orange with a repeat two-day workshop (as well as the new workshop) at The Corner Store Gallery are being finalised and the dates will be announced in an upcoming newsletter.
GOST has opened for 2020
We have a big year ahead for our tiny gallery! We are doubling our program, going from two annual exhibitions to four!! So save the dates with our first show coming up in April. This year, the gallery will be closed all Feb and all May due to personal commitments (we also need a little break and have the chance to go overseas and for me to visit/make at an International ceramics institute located in Hungary). We have a fridge size flyer letting you know what's happening from Jan to July. Please click here. NOTE: you can still shop online during February and orders will be posted on my return early March or shop in person at Little National Hotel, Barton where our cabinet is located in the main foyer.
